Digital Camera Review Shows Canon Digital Camera Most Popular Again

3 September, 2010 | Alex | No Comment

Cincinnati, OH (PRWEB) May 9, 2006

Digital cameras have become an increasingly popular graduation gift; Mother’s Day gifts and Father’s Day gifts are also a good choice for giving digital cameras.

Many consumers are confused because of the many options, models, and prices available. DigitalCameraReview.com has helped to solve the confusion by publishing its monthly top 10 list of most popular digital cameras . Its most recent recently published review, “April’s Most Popular Digital Cameras” is located at its web site at http://www.digitalcamerareview.com/default.asp?newsID=2781 .

“Millions of people are searching online each month for digital cameras,” said Brian Beeler, president of TechnologyGuide.com, which publishes four technology-oriented products web sites, including sites for notebook pc’s, PDAs, and Tablet PCs. “We are continually being asked by large numbers of consumers about the most popular digital cameras. We started the monthly review earlier this year to help consumers make the right choice. This is an easy-to-use resource that consumers can use to find the information they’re looking for. Plus,” he said, “the list of most popular digital cameras ties in with our Digital Camera Buyer’s Guide, where an individual can find answers to almost any question he or she has about digital cameras.”

“The most popular camera is not necessarily the best digital camera for a given consumer, but the digital camera ratings included at DigitalCameraReview.com can enlighten consumers as to what is the best digital camera for them,” Beeler continued.

The April results shown the predominant popularity of Canon (it’s top 10 models include the Powershot A520, Powershot SD600, Digital Rebel XT, Powershot A620, Powershot S2 IS, and Powershot S3 IS. Other top 10 results include the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7, Nikon D50, Nikon D200, and the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T9.

DigitalCameraReview.com began operation in 2004 as a consumer information web site, offering up-to-date newsfeeds and unbiased user-based information, including product ratings and reviews on all major digital camera manufacturers’ products, including Canon digital cameras, Sony digital cameras, Olympus digital cameras, and more. It’s Users Forum has garnered industry praise as a consumer-friendly resource where people can get “straight answers.”

The 2005 Digital Camera Buyers’ Guide also included at the web site breaks down the digital camera comparison into four separate pricing segments along with five different functional options. This, along with the Users Forum, makes it easy for any digital camera consumer, whether a beginner or an advanced user, to find and compare his or her options.

Our newest toy the Canon PowerShot D10. As soon as the battery charged we headed out to the pool to try it out underwater. So far it seems like a pretty cool camera. Since you're supposed to wash it off after use in a pool I figured soaking it in a glass of water would be a good way to rinse it off.

Stobist Info: 580 EX II shot through a red tupperware lit, camera left, fired by poverty wizard (Cactus V4).

#13 of my Project 365.

Tonight, I decided to have a go at more product shot with my new g9.

I really like the texture that came out on it. Check larger on black

I tried to do the same thing, shooting the 350D with the G9. It would trigger the flash properly, but even at f/8 (max for the g9), it wouldn't be sharp all over the photo. Manual focus helped, but the photos weren't as interesting. Will upload them later.

for strobist:
- Vivitar 285HV, 1/16 power, top righ (for the face of the camera), through a white umbrella
- Prinz Jupiter 372, top left, behind. Filling the left edge of the camera, however, it got out darker that it really is on the jpg conversion I did for Flickr (???)

EOS Kiss X3

iPhone 3GS vs. Canon PowerShot S90
powershot

Went to dinner the other night at Patxi's in San Francisco. I decided to test just how good the lowlight qualities of the Canon PowerShot S90 were.

On the left is an image from my iPhone 3GS. On the right is an image from my Canon PowerShot S90. Both images are JPEGs straight out of the cameras with no flash or post processing.

Normally, I carry my iPhone 3GS with me wherever I go, and use that to take photos. Unfortunately, the low light characteristics are a little limiting.

*I realize this test is a little unfair, but it's amazing to see just how crappy the iPhone camera is in low light settings.

Special thanks to Sean and Sanjin for being models.

Canon Powershot G7
powershot

Nikon Coolpix S1100pj and S5100 hands-on
Nikon's new projector-equipped camera has broken cover today and we've naturally had a little play around with it. Regrettably, the Japanese DSLR dominator had pretty early firmware on board and refused to let us take any sample pictures or video, but we were able to compile a few impressions anyhow. Firstly, as to the S1100pj's body, it's your typical compact affair -- feeling sturdy and light ...

Nikon Coolpix S10 Digital Camera

If you are an amateur photographer and in the search of a digital camera that has features which can not be found in any other digital camera, then Nikon Coolpix S10 is the one for you. It is enabled with the Best Shot Selector (BSS) Mode. This feature enhances the quality of your work. In this feature, you get to shoot approximately 10 snaps and then you can choose the best one out of the ten. It is this unique feature that will tempt you to buy Nikon Coolpix S10. To add to this, it comes in a reasonable price. So, it is all the more hard to neglect this offer.

Key features
Nikon Coolpix S10 has a 6 mega pixel CCD sensor. As a result, the picture quality discerned is very good. This is because, a CCD sensor comprises photo sensitive cells that trace incoming light and convert them into electrical signals. To add to this, higher resolution of a camera asserts that the quality of the images will also be good. It has a 10x optical zoom and a 4x digital zoom. So, you are empowered to click as many snaps as you like without distance or setting being a barrier. To view the snaps clicked and also to get a preview of the snaps that are intended to be clicked, you get to use the LCD display that measures 2.5 inches. It is also enabled with four shooting modes that make sure images turn out well even in case of an unfavorable setting. To add to this, there also exists a Macro Mode. Transferring data is also easy with Direct Print and PictBridge since these software ensure that communication between the camera and the printer goes on smoothly without the presence of a computer.

User friendly aspects
Nikon Coolpix S10 comes with a tiny joystick, with knurled edges, which makes navigating through its well designed menu system a walk over. If you intend to shoot a scene without using flash, then Nikon Coolpix S10 comes with a Best Shot Selector (BSS) mode that comes to your rescue. In this feature, you get to shoot approximately 10 snaps and then you can choose the one with the least smudge. It also comes in other variations, namely, Highlight BSS, Shadow BSS, and Histogram BSS. The images received from Nikon Coolpix S10 are extremely accurate and consequently impressive.

Conclusion
Nikon Coolpix S10 is an ideal purchase for advanced amateur photographers. It has some very good features that you may find really enticing.

Maria Sharapova and her Canon Powershot Diamond Collection
powershot

Original Story here: www.gearlog.com/2008/08/maria_sharapova_unveils_her_ca.php

My story: As my last story for my internship at PC Magazine, I went to South St Seaport to shoot Maria Sharapova's official unveiling of her Canon Powershot Diamond lineup that people could win through a contest on Canon's website. The other photographers next to me were from NY Daily News, Newsday, AP, Getty, NY Post and I believe the NYTimes. And they were all using Canons so it felt odd for me to be the only guy there using Olympus on the front lines right in front of her.

What made me really happy though was the fact that the Post photographer (who reeked of alcohol) kept saying that I wasn't allowed to stand next to him because he didn't have enough room to take his shot. The Canon reps fixed that and let me stay there because I had previous reservations.

I took my flash off because my mentor (Pulitzer Winner John Williams at Newsday) taught me to shoot that way. But I synched my timing to shoot with the other photographers.

To make a long story short--the only photos of the event that ended up being published were mine and AP's. The Post and Daily News used AP's. But mine...were all over the net.

It made me quite happy and made me realize that Olympus can hold it's own against the bigger guys in terms of getting the right shot. That being said though, I still plan to move back to Canon (I used to use them) because they do better in low light and give me the features I need.
